Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night."

Which Traffic Exchanges Do You Surf?

I recently came across StartXchange surfing in another TE. On their page it said are you surfing alone. Come to StartXchange and never be alone. I thought what in the heck do they mean by that. I did join StartXchange and the first time I surfed and saw all those pictures of the people surfing I actually felt a little self conscious like they could really see me. Yeah I know I am a weird one. But after a few days of surfing I actually liked seeing the pictures and knowing who was surfing too. I got where I would look to see if a certain person was surfing at the same time as I. No I don't know the person. He was one of the ones surfing when I started the first day and I just would check for his picture. I also like the fact that the owner Tim Linden is always working to better the program. He has a scanner that scans for nasties on the websites and that makes my surfing a lot cleaner. I think he is the only one who does this and that proves right there that he cares about his members. He has done some other new stuff but too techy for me to understand. But he is always trying to make things better. His newsletter that he sends out is actually about StartXchange and what improvements he is doing. Not full of adverts for different programs like some I've seen. You are also rewarded for reading the newsletter. I won't tell how cause you will just have to join to find out. :) There is also a forum to get or give help and Tim is there too for any problems you might have. I wanted to talk to you today about more of the programs in Marketing Pond. I mentioned Clix Sense Hits4Pay Donkey Mails and Honey Advertiser Pro yesterday. As you remember Clix Sense is a company that pays you to view websites. The Pay for each viewed website can be from 1 cent to 5 dollars. And Hits4Pay pays 2 cents for each viewed website. Donkey Mails and HoneyAdvertiserPro each pay different amounts for reading emails. Today I will mention a few more of the programs. Such as Word Linx pays one cent each for viewed ads. You go to their site click in with your user name and password. Then you click on browse ads. You need to check in with these programs everyday. I have finally learned how to make emails pay me. Yes strange as it sounds you can get paid for reading email, viewing websites, doing cash for offers and some people make money doing surveys. Some time ago I wrote a Direct Mail Package and full page magazine ad for an International Database Developer Software company. What's that? Well I didn't know either. It is so technical it took me a week to translate their existing sales literature from 'Techie-Speak' into English.
Their literature was written and aimed at very technically minded people. Computer Programmers in particular.
However, I wrote the new sales messages in 'layman's language'. Why?
Because even technical people don't always understand everything technical. And tomorrow's 'Techie' is today's 'Newbie'. And TODAY'S customer.
Sales increased by 400%.
I'll repeat that - 400%. Does that tell you anything besides the fact that I like to show off?
------ What does that tell us?
Maybe it tells us that 'Techies' also understand 'Newbie-Speak' but not the other way round.
Here's an ezine Ad I came across from a 'Techie' who has never heard the word 'Newbie'.........

I visited FOUR stores and was blinded with science by 17 year old 'sales executives' with fluff on their chins, whose sole purpose in life seemed to be to exhibit their superior knowledge about electronics. Sub Whoofer? I want music, not an aquatic Rottweiller!
I finally came across a PROFESSIONAL salesman who asked me what I WANTED from a Hi-Fi, and demonstrated a system that SUITED MY NEEDS. He made a $1500 sale to a Hi-Fi Newbie in 10 minutes.
The fact that when I got it home I couldn't understand the Manual wasn't his fault! It was written in 'Techie-Speak'!

Barbara's Problem With Emails

Emails are great aren't they. We just write our message hit send and away it goes. But where does it go? It is suppose to go the intended recipent but does it? How many emails do you send in a day and how many actually go where they are suppose to go?

I think it is great that we can communicate this way with people everywhere. But I would like to know if my emails actually get where they are going!

I have emailed people with no response and these are people who say if you need any help with this or that I'm just an email away or send me that information. Well I send the info and I never hear back if they received or not.

So I am thinking that they just are ignoring me. Then I think did they receive it at all, did it go in there bulk folder only to be deleted without their even knowing it is there?

So emails are great when they go to the right place but they are a pain in the ?? when they just end up in cyber space or bulk folders or where ever it is emails go to.

How do you feel about emails?
